Reflection #1: The blog
What? - I had to create a blog for my website. This can be found on the main page via a link at the top. I sometimes feel blogs can be self important. Why does someone want to read what I wrote? With this class I viewed it as, I want to read it. This is a self reflective exercise for me as an educator and overall human with multiple roles in life.
So What? - "1. Learner: Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve student learning." AND "4. Collaborator: Educators dedicate time to collaborate with both colleagues and students to improve practice, discover and share resources and ideas, and solve problems." These quotes are from the ISTE standards for the educator as a learner and a collaborator. My blog as part of my overall portfolio and website, is supporting me as a learner as well as a collaborator. I am processing what I am learning and saving from classes as well as resources. I am then sharing not only my thoughts, but relevant links and ideas via this website and blog.
Now What? - I'm particularly excited to use this website, blog and all, as a collaboration tool with my immediate peers at school. We are often sharing resources, ideas and more. This allows me to consolidate that which I wish to share in one resource for my work peers. I'd like to share some of this with my students as well. I need more reflection to determine how and when I implement that idea.
